Eddy Merckx was created in Meensel-Kiezegem, Brabant, Belgium in June 1945. Eddy played several sports activities as a youngster but found his interest in cycling. He got his initial bicycle at a age group and competed in his initial competition at 16. Merckx gained 80 races as an amateur and switched pro at 29 years previous signing with Solo-Superia. In his initial professional season, Merckx gained nine races. Then switched over to competition for Peugeot-BP-Michelin and gained two editions of the Milan – San Remo. He joined Faema in 1968 for three periods and gained four Grand Tours and eight classics. He transferred to Molteni in 1971 and gained the Triple Crown in 1974. Merckx place a fresh hour record and gained six even more Grand Tours throughout that timeframe. He retired from the activity in 1978 and began his own bike chain known as Eddy Merckx Cycles. He in addition has worked as a tv commentator on bike races and coached the Belgian nationwide cycling group. He finished his profession with 525 victories and is definitely the most effective cyclist ever, although he was involved with three doping incidents.
