She later on received a handwritten thank-you letter from Clementine Churchill, the wife of Primary Minister Winston Churchill. Taylor Bradford’s biographer, Piers Dudgeon, uncovered proof that her mom, Freda, was the illegitimate child of Frederick Robinson, 2nd Marquess of Ripon, an area Yorkshire aristocrat. Taylor Bradford’s grandmother had worked well as a servant for the Marquess. Dudgeon informed Taylor Bradford that her grandmother got had three kids by the Marquess, and after some hesitation, she allowed Dudgeon to create the book.
